PTV and professionalism

Those who watched live Polo match from Shandur on 8th and 9th July on PTV home will agree with me that PTV has done away with professionalism as for as running commentary is concerned. The man who was doing the job did not know either the ABC of the game or basic knowledge of Urdu and English. I wonder why does PTV depend on guest stars and volunteers for a job that is to be done by paid workers and thorough professionals. If PTV has no resources to pay the fee of a professional Commentator, it could outsource the job to the sponsors who had adequate resources to pay for hiring a professional.

It was astonishing to note that the man who volunteered himself for the commentary did not know that commentator is always a neutral person. He is not supposed to report God willing this or that team will win. He must know what does a mob mean? What does Lush green spot mean? He must know that in polo there is no concept of D. He must also know that Urdu is our national language and it has a grammar and vocabulary as well. I do appreciate that PTV home brings a live polo match to home but it is disappointing to note that PTV ignore professionalism and depends on volunteers for telecasting commentary on Polo. I do hope next time it will depend on volunteers and instead engage professional commentator for the match.
