Electric leg pulling
Electric leg pulling is going on, throughout Pakistan in general
and in the district of Chitral in particular. This is un-precendeented
leg pulling on the question of electricity. Cluted district has
proven potential for 40,000 MW electricity generations through
Hydel schemes. It Golen Gol Hydel Project of 106 MW has been put in
cold storage since 1987. Its Reshun Hydel Power Station has 1.8 MW
surplus electricity while another 2 MW electricity is in the offing
at Shishi Hydel scheme. Synchroniser, Transformers and Automatic
Voltage Regulators (AVRs) are needed to streamline and harmonize
the system. Before linking up the national grid to Reshun and
Shishi Hydel stations both SHYDO and PESCO need to install the
required machinery worth 7.5 million rupees. However, we are
fortunate enough to have our political leaders, the MNA, MPA, Zilla
Nazim, Tehsil Nazims and others who are bent upon inaugurating each
and every electric pole without ensuring that it will give light a
bulb or not? This is infact electric leg pulling and people are fed
up with it. I request the worthy MNA, Zilla Nazim, MPA and Tehsil
Nazims to score their points elsewhere but not at the national
grid.
