Chitrali Honored in Canada
The City of Calgary Parks, Alberta Canada has highly appreciated
Mr. Syed Nazir social services, his dedication and passions for the
environment and declared him as a most active volunteer of the
year. The Calgary Area Outdoor Council has also acknowledged his
services and wrote a special article about his contributions in its
reputed online paper. Following is an abstract from the article
published by the CAOC during April 2008.
Calgary is a long way away from the isolated northern mountain
district of Chitral, Pakistan; Where Syed Nazir Khan first
discovered his love for the outdoor, his passions for environment
conservation and his commitment to community. Today Syed Nazir and
his family reside in Calgary, where he has become the City of
Calgarys Parks Volunteer Ranger Programs most active volunteer. In
the spring 2007 Syed Nazir joined the parks Volunteer Ranger
Program because for his love for nature and his desire to do
something positive for the environment. You can find Syed Nazir
Volunteering at Bowness Park where he often provides people with
information about the park, public stewardship practices, and park
related bylaws. He also encourages people to take care of the park
by role- modeling proper park etiquette.
It is worth to mention here that prior his immigration to Canada
Syed Nazir was an active social worker in Chitral. He was involved
in different social activities such as environmental awareness
campaigns, helping underprivileged people, organizing cultural and
sports activities for young generation.
