Appreciation Letter for Station Director Radio Pakistan Gilgit
Dear Sir,
Through your esteemed on line paper I want to convey my heartiest
thanks to Mr. Alam Khan, Station Director, Radio Pakistan, Gilgit
for accommodating Khowar language in their programmes. The efforts
of Mr. Ali Murad, Member Legislative assembly, NA in this regard,
are also highly appreciated. It is really a laudable service to
Khowar speakers and their culture of Northern Area and Chitral.
Khowar being one of the major languages spoken in Northern Areas
deserved a place in the broadcasting media of the region. By giving
it its due place the Radio Pakistan, Gilgit authorities have earned
the gratitude of Khowar speakers of our country as a whole. This
initiative of the concerned authorities would prove a mile stone in
the development of this ancient language of the mountains by
encouraging literary work and cultural activities not only amongst
the local populace but also Khowar writers and artistes through out
the country. We hope that the duration of Khowar programme will be
extended with the passage of time.
It is worth mentioning that Khowar language spoken in Ghizer valley
has preserved its original form because of its isolated position in
the wake of history, which other wise has lost its originality due
to its interaction and assimilation with other languages. We may
find Khowar words and phrases in Ghizer which are obsolete in
Chitral. It is hoped that Khowar programme of Radio Pakistan Gilgit
will help to revive the lost words and phrases of Khowar by
encouraging participation of the aboriginal inhabitants in the
Khowar programme broad casts.
Here I may also take the opportunity to congratulate Mrs. Habiba
Shamsul Qamer for her appointment as News caster of Khowar with the
hope that she may prove her self quite fit for the job and serve
her mother tongue with full devotion and dedication.
