Why Chitralis always in favor of opposition
leader in Center?
Dear Editor,
I have been reading letters and articles on your news site about
the elections 2008 in Chitral for quite some time now.
First of all the whole of Pakistan voted for the PPP, but the
people of Chitral voted for PML (Q). The PPP government is being
formed in the centre and in at least two provinces, and the PML (Q)
is an outcast in today's politics. I gravely question the political
vision of the people of Chitral? If they had selected the PPP
candidates it would have strongly benefited the region and people
in terms of provision of funds.
Now regarding the candidate for NA-32 he was fully qualified for
the job. He has long term association with the PPP. He had contacts
with the party high command in Islamabad and it would have
benefited the people of Chitral if he had won. He had a clear past,
and was a good and humble person. He is financially stable and
unlike others would not have filled his own coffers. Do note that
Salim Khan won his seat due to Mr. Ghulam Mohiuddin's
assistance.
People talk of Sardar Khan. Don't they know that throughout his
service he has been a crony of the PML (Q) candidate. His brother
is a contractor. He was planted by them to split
and break PPP. Who has benefited from sardar khans campaign?
Shahzada Mohiuddin of PML (Q) has been ruling Chitral for 30 years.
What has he given the people? and they again selected him? The
people of Chitral deserve him, I guess. The Mullas have been
selected to the seats since 1993 regularly from Chitral, what have
they done for the people? except fight with the central government
and deprive Chitral of funds. Also what have they done to the rest
of the NWFP?
The PPP needs to be re-organized in Chitral, as it if filled with
those who are in alliance under the table with PML (Q).
Look at their election history for the last 20 years. They do it
every time. No candidate is acceptable to them, and they make a
fool out of the peoples mandate by conspiring with the feudal lord
and the thekedars.
Sincerely,
Mir Khan, USA |
