Importance of Chitral
Many thanks to Dr. Inayatullah Faizi for highlighting the
geographical importance of Chitral, being a Chitrali it is the
responsibility of each and every individual to think about the
importance of Chitral which is not know to every one. We have lost
many things in the past; people have sold the half portion of
Chitral on very cheap price. Writing on news paper is not enough;
to create awareness among the general public different campaigns
shall be launched to protect the remaining portion of Chitral and
the dignity of the people living here.
In past such type of practices were common in Azad Kashmir; when
half portion of Kashmir was sold to other people then the
government of Azad Kashmir realized that something is going to be
wrong with Kashmir; at that time a resolution was passed in the
assembly of Azad Kashmir and selling land to non Kashmiri people
was strictly prohibited der ayad drust ayad but it was too late.
What did the outsiders after this resolution? They got married with
the daughters of Kashmiri people and started purchasing land there
again, but it is under control now.
To protect the selling of land in Chitral to outsiders I would like
to suggest that:
1. There shall be campaigns to create awareness among the people;
college students, other youth and notables shall be encouraged to
take part in this campaign as a volunteer.
2. Different publications shall be provided to people highlighting
the importance of land and Chitrali culture.
3. District assembly Chitral shall pass resolution where to sell
land to outsiders shall be strictly prohibited and a committee
shall be formed to monitor the land selling and the committee shall
regularly monitor the activities of outsiders. If we are serious we
can easily control it timely otherwise we shall accept that we are
doing nothing for our culture tradition and for our next
generation.
