RIOTS IN KARACHI

What ever happened on 12th May in Karachi was undoubtedly a sad and sorrowful event. We all condemn such acts of barbarism.

I want to refer to the demonstration held by a political party in Chitral against the event. Without denying ones right to expression of opinion about any thing I want to make my point that we should keep in mind the sensitivity of such issues and their long-term impact before arranging such rallies or passing any resolutions.

In my personal view declaring another political party as an International Terrorist Group in such demonstration will be of no help to thousands of Chitralis, mainly students, living in Karachi. We should keep in mind the worst communal violence during mid eighties where luckily no Chitrali lost his/her life. This was only due to the fact that we remained impartial and showed that we are not part of any kind of violence. I urge not to politicise any matter for personal short-term benefits. This time also we have to handle the situation tactfully and not to politicise the matter for personal short-term benefits.
