Location of poultry shops in Chitral bazaar

Through your esteemed daily, I would like to draw the attention of the concerned Authorities towards the location of poultry shops in the heart of Chitral city. These poultry shops have been set up on Governor Cottage road, which is considered an important locality in Chitral city. This road is surrounded by densely populated villages of Rehankot,Goldur and Chitral Bazaar. In the middle of these villages, there is old PIA Chowk from which an important route leads to Governor Cottage and connects the adjacent areas with the rest of the bazaar. Old PIA Chowk is an important business center and remains busy from down to late night hours. Governor Cottage road is also passage of important Govt. dignitaries who visit Chitral and stay at Governor Cottage. This road also goes to old fort of Birmogh Lasht and Chitral Gol National Park. Foreign tourists go to see historical fort and National Park. The existence of poultry shops in such important and busy area creates smell and other forms of pollution for the nearby villagers, business community and common people. The smell and wastes of Chickens have made the whole area polluted and add to the miseries of the people of surrounding villages. This route serves as the shortest route for the people of the nearby villages to reach bazaar, but due to the smell coming from these poultry shops, people are compelled to use alternative route which is distant and away from center Bazaar. Thus, it wastes the time of students, patients and female students who take long route to reach their destination. These poultry shops also cause spread of various diseases and many cases of such kinds have been registered in the surrounding villages.

It is very strange that Govt. functionaries, who travel on this road for Governor Cottage, do not take notice of this problem or ignore it deliberately. Affected people of the surrounding areas have complained several times against the existence of poultry shops in the center of the city and brought it into the notice of the district and Tehsil administration, but no action has been taken so for. Now, it should be right times for District and Tehsil administration, Health Department and other concerned Authorities to take proper action against these poultry shops, so that people can take sigh of relief. These shops can be accommodated outside the city area, because these are suitable sites for such markets. If these shops were shifted away from thickly populated areas and central bazaar, then it would benefit the city dwellers as well the owners of poultry shops.
