Independence Day Celebrated at CBS Dolomuch

The Community Based School Dolomuch Chitral celebrated the 59th anniversary of Independence Day at CBS hall Dolomuch. A large number of parents, community members, notables and school children and teachers attended this programme. Mr. Sultan Shah, Speaker District Assembly Chitral was the Chief Guest while Mrs. Zohran Shah, a well known social worker, presided over the programme. On behalf of Dolomuch Educational Welfare Society, Mr. Karimullah Saqib welcomed the audience at CBS Dolomuch. Young, energetic and active students of CBS Dolomuch presented variety of items such as naat, national songs, drama, speech, anecdotes, cultural and musical show. The audience enjoyed the programme and appreciated the efforts of students, teachers and the school management for arranging such an interesting and informative programme.
Quiz competition was the main activity of this programme. Students from some of the prominent schools of Chitral like Frontier Corps (Army) Public School (FCPS) Chitral, Eagle Eye Public School Seen Lasht Chitral, Terichmir Community Based School Bohtooli including Community Based School Dolomuch were the competitors. The Lang Lands School Chitral could not participate the programme due to unknown reasons. The process of quiz competition was started in June 2006 by negotiating and holding of initial meetings with the neighbouring schools. The questions were developed well before the programme, shared with the respective school teachers and copies were given to the students of the schools. So each school had got ample time to make the students ready and prepare for the competition.
Before the start of the quiz competition CBS management hold a meeting with the teachers of participating schools to clarify some of the confusions/ misconceptions regarding questionnaire and finalize the process. It was decided that there would be five rounds, each round having five questions for each group. They discussed on the criteria and agreed that Mr. Shah Karez, Mr. Mohammad Karam, Mr. Salim Khan would perform responsibility of judges while Mr. Mohammad Khan would supervise the quiz competition. At the end of the fifth round, CBS Dolomuch Chitral stood first while FCPS Chitral second and TCBS Bohtooli remained third in the quiz competition. Shields and medals were presented to the winner teams by the chief guest and the president. While addressing on the occasion the Chief Guest appreciated students, staff members and board members of CBS Dolomuch for arranging such a wonderful programme. The quality is visible by the performance of the students of this school he added. He stressed on Dolomuch community to send their young children to CBS Dolomuch instead of different far away schools. He mentioned that public has understood the core message of self help and community based approach because they have opened a number of community based high and higher secondary schools in the remote villages of the upper areas of Chitral district. He promised to support CBS Dolomuch through CCB fund so that construction of classroom could be completed. Mrs. Zohran Shah congratulated the winner teams and appreciated the efforts of CBS Dolomuch for arranging such an innovative and informative programme. She hoped that schools will continue these kinds of professional linkages in future too. Mr. Adina Shah Chairman Dolomuch Educational Welfare Society (DEWS) Chitral, Ms. Shakeela Wali Vice Chairperson DEWS, Mr. Meraj-ud-Din, Principal TCBS Bohtooli also spoke on the occasion. All the speakers highlighted the positive aspects of the competition. This was a new learning for CBS Dolomuch and the future programmes will be more interesting as well as systematic based on the lesson learnt from this experience. We also hope that the cooperation of the supporting schools will continue.
The management of the school would like to say thanks to the Aga Khan Youth and Sports Board Chitral for providing shields and medals for the winners and participants. Such kind of support will hopefully help us prepare our young generation in a better position, who will eventually change the destiny of Chitral and make it a prosperous and developed region of the country.
