Canada Day

Dear Editor
Through your renowned online newspaper (chitraltimes), we congratulate from the bottom of our heart, to all the Canadian citizens around the world on the joyous occasion of our beloved country Canada 138th birthday. Canada was born on July 1st, 1868. Today all Canadian citizens around the world are celebrating Canada Day enthusiastically with their families and friends.

Canada was named from the Iroquois word Kanata which mean village. Now I will tell you a bit about Canada. Canada has ten provinces which are called: British Columbia, Alberta, Saskastuwan, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, New Found Land, Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia and there are 3 territories which are called: Nunavut, Northwest territory and Yukon territory. The biggest province by population wise Ontario and Land wise is Quebec. Canada has 5 great lakes, which are: Lake Ontario, Lake Erie, Lake Huron, Lake Michigan and Lake Superior.

The Capital city of Canada is Ottawa. Canada is a very multicultural country. It accepts all the religions and cultures. Canadas population is very large, because people live here from more then 200 countries and Canadas the third largest country in the world. Canada is a peaceful and developed country and its rich due to natural resources and for its
peoples hard work.

Form of Government:
Canada has a parliamentary system of Government. Every four years, Canada has a national election to choose their national and provincial representatives. The priminister is the head of the Government and the Governor General is the representative of Queen Elizabeth 2nd. Remember Queen Elizabeth is a symbolical national Queen of Canada. Each province has their own provincial assembly and there is a local government for every large city. Canada is unique for its peacefulness, multiculturalism and meritocracy and as a matter a fact, Canada has not been in war with any country and has no border conflict with any country.

Canada is very generous and helpful. Whenever there is natural Disaster and any other problem, Canada is the first country to provide First Aid and Health care facilities. For example, Canada helped Pakistan with the horrible earthquake, Canada provided a lot of food and shelter facilities for the people in need; Canada was there to help the Eastern countries for the terrible Tsunami that took place. Canada also helped the Americans who were in need during the dreadful flood. Canada is all about peace, and wants peace in every country, thats why Canada passed on its troupes to Afghanistan for keeping the peace.

The Flag:
Canadian flag has two colours which consist of red and white and in the center is the maple leaf. The colour red represents for the martyrdom soldiers of world war two and the white stands for peace.

In the ending, I will present you with the national anthem of Canada.

O Canada!
Our home and native land!
True patriot love in all thy sons command.

With glowing hearts we see thee rise,
The True North strong and free!

From far and wide,
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
God keep our land glorious and free!

O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

Sincerely,
Bushra Aman (Student of Grade 10)
