Cleanliness campaign carried out in Shandoor by AKRSP WES II

SHANDUR: AKRSP under its project Water & Energy Security
carried out Solid Waste Management activity in Shandoor in
collaboration with Tehsil administration and Chitral Heritage &
Environmental protection society. It was a four day cleanliness
drive and government officials as well as members of civil society
joined the campaign. It was highly appreciated by government
officials and general public. Around 40 volunteers took part in the
campaign and collected nearly 4 tons of solid waste. The solid
wastes accumulated were properly disposed by digging pit holes and
covering by soil with the help of tractors.
Additional deputy commissioner Chitral Mr. Minhas Uddin and
Assistant commissioner Mastuj Mr. Hayat Shah also joined the four
day campaign and appreciated the activity. On the occasion
Additional Deputy commissioner Chitral Mr. Minhas urged the
tourists and spectators to keep Shandoor clean and green. He also
joined the awareness walk with the theme of clean eco system.
Assistant Commissioner Mastuj Mr. Hayat Shah suggested installing
dustbins for the next Shandoor festival.
A cultural night was organized by Tourism Corporation of Pakistan.
AKRSP WES II project participated in the event through a
theatre/drama performance with the theme of clean ecosystem and
clean and green Shandoor and Laspoor valley. For this purpose,
professional theatre/drama artists from institute of Pamiri arts
and culture were invited from Islamabad by WES team. The theatre
performance was highly appreciated by the audience. District
administration congratulated WES II team for successfully
completing the activity.
