Three persons died and several injured during Eid holidays

CHITRAL: Three persons died in different incidents of stabbing knife, consumption of poisoned food and traffic accident during the Eidul Azíha holidays in different parts of Chitral.

Chitral police told Dawn here on Monday that the one Zakaria was stabbed to death by his cousin Hassan Ahmed in Mughlandeh village of Chitral on Eid day.

The reason behind the incident is said to be a domestic feud while the accused has been arrested and case registered against him under sections 302 and 506 of PPC.

In Rech of Torkhow in upper Chitral, eight members of the family of Zabardast Khan fainted and hospitalized after consuming boiled meat as a result of which Sajid Ali Khan (11 years) died in Rural Health Centre Shagram.

The hospital source said that three of his brothers Akbar Ali Khan (16), Naveed Ali Khan (7) and Saif Ali Khan (5) were still admitted in the hospital where they were convalescing while the rest of the family members were discharged after recovery.

The local police is conducting inquiry under section 56 of criminal procedure code to ascertain the real reason.

A boy of 6 years died in Parabek village near Garam Chashma town here on Monday when a jeep carrying them to Gobor area plunged into ravine as a result of which all the eight persons on board sustained serious injuries.

The local police identified the deceased as Mubarak Jan of Xitoor village of Garam Chashama while the family was going to meet their relatives in Gobor.

Sources in DHQ hospital said that three of the seven persons were in critical condition who may be referred to Peshawar hospital if they did not succumb to the head injuries during the coming four hours.

Meanwhile, on the public complaint, the district police officer Syed Ali Akbar Shah ordered special crack down on the under-age motor cyclists on the occasion of Eid who jeopardized the lives of others by their reckless and rash driving.

A doctor posted in emergency ward of the hospital for the last three years told Dawn that the number of motor cycle accident related injured persons was registered very low in this Eid.

An official of Chitral police said that traffic personnel had been assigned special duties to check the reckless driving of motor cycles on the occasion of Eid as was in vogue in the past.

He said that more than two hundred persons were rounded up for under age driving and reckless driving and were freed on the assurance of their parents.
