AKHSS Kuragh celebrates a decade of success in pursuit of

KURAGH: The Aga Khan Higher Secondary School Kuragh, while
celebrating its 10th anniversary, offered a platformof reminiscence
to its alumni worldwide.
occasion was graced by the presence of highly distinguished guests
including the Additional Deputy Commissioner Chitral,District
Monitoring Officer, Principal Government Degree College for Boys
Booni, media persons and other educationists and community members.
Ms. Karima Shahzad, an alumni of the same alma mater, commenced the
program with the recitation of holy verses from the Quran followed
by a holy na’at by grade 10 students. The guests were then welcomed
with a tabloo by the junior most grade VIII students. Thereafter,
the cake-cutting ceremony took place. Rest of the program included
drama, tableau, qawali, comedy show, and a cultural show. In the
latter activity, the students were dressed in the cultural dresses
of the four provinces torepresent the diversity of Pakistan.
The alumni, who study at professional institutes both in and
outside Pakistan, were interviewed where they expressed their
feelings about the school and the platform which the school
provided them and how it ultimately helped themin becoming global
students. They were of the view that the diverse milieu at AKHSS
Kuragh helped them in adapting to new environment with a
pluralistic approach towards humanity.
Later, Ms. Sultana Burhanuudin the Principal AKHSS Kuragh, in her
speech shared the challenges faced by the school at the time of
inception when it was first established back in 2007 in a makeshift
building. However, the school progressed in leaps and bounds when
recently in 2016 it was declared as the best school in Pakistan.
She also expressed her acknowledgement of the contribution of the
community, parents, faculty, administration and students in the
promotion of the school.
Mr. Mazhar Ali Shah, who currently serves as DMO Chitral had been
one of the founding faculty of AKHSS Kuragh. In his address he
attributed his success, both personal and professional, to the
school. He said that he learnt more than he delivered during his
stay as a lecturer in Pakistan Studiesat the school.
The chief guest, Mr. Minhaz Uddin, Additional Deputy Commissioner,
Chitral,said that the school distinctively attracts people with the
goal to promote talent rather than on low fees and resultantly, the
hidden talent of students isexplored at this school.
The president, Mr. Mumtaz Hussain, Principal Degree College for
Boys Booni pointed out that students of AKHSS, when join the degree
college to pursue their higher education, are the ones who
invariably stand out in all aspects.
Thereafter, Mr. Akhtar Nawaz, HR Manager AKES, P Chitral and Mr.
Saeedullah Jan, retired Principal, also spoke to the audience.
Toward the end, the audience visited the AKHSS Wall and Alumni
Corner, where students had displayed various cards containing
well-wishes, messages and personal notes showing their intimacy
with the school. The alumni then inscribed their messages on the
Alumni Corner designated for the given purpose. Afterwards, the
audience lunched with the faculty at the school garden.
