By Zahiruddin

CHITRAL: District nazim Chitral Maghfirat Shah has said that plantation of tree on large scale was one of the potential measures to check the environmental degradation and thereby dampen the frequency of natural disasters in Chitral and the district government was wide awakened to the situation realizing its urgency.

Addressing the function held by Forest department in connection with kicking off the plantation campaign in the district here on Sunday, he said that efforts were on foot to mobilize the local community in the mass- scale plantation in the vast tracts of barren land which formed the integral of almost every village in the district.

He expressed his satisfaction over the billion tree tsunami afforestation project (BTTAP) carried out by the Forest department and wanted involvement of local community in higher degree through the local support organizations present in union council level.

He urged the provincial government to provide more resources to the forest department in Chitral to extend the BTTAP to every nook and corner of the district and reassured all out of the district government in this regard.
