CHITRAL: The poaching of kashmir markhor in Chitral Gol National Park by none others but the officers of the wild life department was reported in the session of the zilla council held here on Wednesday by member of the house from Chitral-II, Riaz Ahmed Dewan Begi.

He said that hunting of animals and cutting of green wood is totally banned in a national park but a markhor was hunted from the core area of the national park and the officers of wild life department, its custodian, reportedly shared the flesh of the illegally hunted markhor.

He demanded a high level probe into the incident to bring to book the culprits who had committed a blunder of hunting in the area of national park.

Chaired by its convener Maulana Abdul Shakoor, the house also took up the issue of the mysterious death of four Chitrali girls wedded outside the district in a short span of six months and demanded of the government to thoroughly investigate it.

Mufti Mehmoodul Hassan of Drosh-I, Muhammad Yaqub of Karimabad, Haji Sher Muhammad said that the girls from Chitral married in the down districts met the tragic end of mysterious death which always went untraced and unquestioned and the returning of four number of coffins of Chitrali girls back to the district should give a wake-up call to all of us.

They demanded a proper mechanism to be put in place to check the credentials of the men who came to Chitral for marrying a girl from here and the middlemen who arrange such matches should be discouraged.

A resolution was passed later on unanimously demanding the government to extend all types of assistance and help to a local social organization named as Anjuman-e-Dawat-o-Azeemat whose activists strived for checking the dubious types of marriages of Chitrali girls with outsider men by carrying out proper verification process on private level.

The members of the house expressed their resentment over the absence of the officers of different government departments devolved to the district government and said that not a single officer bothered to attend the session for the last three days which is tantamount to subjecting the house to mockery.
