CHITRAL; Situation in Chitral returned to the normalcy on
Sunday as the commercial centres were reopened while the roads
connecting the city with the rest of the district were also opened
for vehicular traffic after removing the barricades by the security
The tension had escalated in the city and outskirt when a person
had allegedly committed blasphemy in the Shahi Masjid on the
occasion of congregational prayers of Friday who was later on
arrested by the police while the mobsters had stormed the police
Chitral Deputy Commissioner Shahab Hamid Yousufzai told Chitral
Times that the schools, colleges and other educational
institutions will reopened on Monday which had earlier been closed
on Saturday after the outbreak of the commotion.
He said that no protester came from any part of the city after the
removal of the personnel of police and Chitral who had been
deployed on Friday last to control the mobs.
The free movement of the people was witnessed in the city and the
number of visitors of picnic resorts including the Kalash valleys,
Toshi Shasha game reserve, Osama Warraich public park, Chitral Gol
National Park was reportedly increased greatly.
Hundreds of picnic parties visited the Kagh Lusht plateau in upper
Chitral while the four-day festival will be resumed shortly which
had been called off after continuing for two days due to the
commotion in the aftermath of the incident.
Meanwhile, the accused of blasphemy Rashidud Din was sent to
Haripur Jail on judicial remand by the ATA judge based in Swat.
