CHITRAL; Situation in Chitral returned to the normalcy on Sunday as the commercial centres were reopened while the roads connecting the city with the rest of the district were also opened for vehicular traffic after removing the barricades by the security forces.

The tension had escalated in the city and outskirt when a person had allegedly committed blasphemy in the Shahi Masjid on the occasion of congregational prayers of Friday who was later on arrested by the police while the mobsters had stormed the police station.

Chitral Deputy Commissioner Shahab Hamid Yousufzai told Chitral Times  that the schools, colleges and other educational institutions will reopened on Monday which had earlier been closed on Saturday after the outbreak of the commotion.

He said that no protester came from any part of the city after the removal of the personnel of police and Chitral who had been deployed on Friday last to control the mobs.

The free movement of the people was witnessed in the city and the number of visitors of picnic resorts including the Kalash valleys, Toshi Shasha game reserve, Osama Warraich public park, Chitral Gol National Park was reportedly increased greatly.

Hundreds of picnic parties visited the Kagh Lusht plateau in upper Chitral while the four-day festival will be resumed shortly which had been called off after continuing for two days due to the commotion in the aftermath of the incident.

Meanwhile, the accused of blasphemy Rashidud Din was sent to Haripur Jail on judicial remand by the ATA judge based in Swat.
