Journalist demands judicial inquiry over son’s death

Chitral — Chitral based senior journalist Gul Hamad Farooqi has demanded a judicial probe into the circumstances under which his teen age son Muhammad Farhan lost his life while under Farhan Farooqi2treatment in the hospital, for an apparently minor ailment. He said his son died due to criminal negligence of doctors at government hospitals in Peshawar.

According to his mother Muhammad Farhan felt pain in his stomach with vomiting and he was immediately rushed to Govt Naseerullah Khan Babar Memorial Hospital (City hospital) Kohat road Peshawar on 28 July but the doctor sent him home opining that that he had minor injury in his stomach. The same was repeated when he felt again but the doctors again ignored the symptom. He was taken to Lady reading hospital but there too again doctors could not diagnose his illness correctly. He said other patient’s caretakers told him that if you do not pay at the private clinic, doctors do not take good care of patients in governments hospitals. Farooqi said he shifted his son to HMC Hayatabad, but met same brand of doctors there too, and despite his repeated request for immediate operation, doctors delayed his sons operation of appendix which caused the child to loose his life.

Farooqi has appealed to Chief Justice Supreme Court of Pakistan, Chief Justice Peshawar High Court, Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, Chief Minister KP Parvez Khattak and PTI Chief Imran Khan, Director Human Rights, Chief of Army staff General Raheel Sharif, president Pakistan Medical and Dental Council and other authorities for conducting judicial and departmental inquiry into the death of Farhan who died due to negligence of doctors of government hospitals.— CN report, 02 Aug 2016
