Anti-Encroachments drive-District administration demolished
front portion of 19 shops in Chitral town
CHITRAL: The front portions of more than three dozens of
shops were razed to the ground by the district administration here
on Sunday as part of operation launched against encroachments in
The heavy machinery hammered down the shops in PIA chowk and its
outskirt in the presence of Chitral DC Osama Ahmed Warraich to
which no resistance was offered by the traders community who had
earlier warned the government to desist from the drive.
The shops included a plaza owned by the whilom senator Shahzada
Burhanud Din of former royal family of Chitral while the Shahi
Bazaar is said to be oldest one established in early 19th century.
Talking to the media persons present on the occasion, DC Chitral
said that the anti-encroachment process will be extended to the
whole district as zero tolerance policy had been adopted by the
government against encroachment.
He appreciated the civil society for extending their moral support
to him and encouraged to start the drive and said that no pressure
will be accepted in continuing it.
