Effectees of earthquake of Drosh demands compensations

CHITRAL: Accusing the district administration of large scale in assessment process of earthquake damages, the affected people of Drosh sub-tehsil have warned the government of long march to Islamabad and setting themselves on fire if they were not provided compensation cheques within two day.

Taking out protest procession from Drosh town to district headquarters here on Wednesday, the alleged that more than of the affected people have not been enlisted by the officials of district administration which deprived them of the compensation as announced by the prime minister who visited the district soon after the quake.

They lamented that all their appeals to the concerned quarters fell on deaf ears which led to rise in protest against the injustice while the affected but marginalized people from Kessu village to Arandu and Sheshi Koh have determined to get their demand accepted at any cost.

Reiterating their demands, they said that the said that fresh assessment should be conducted in the area to enlist the left over affected people and provide compensation cheques to those whose name were deleted by the officials of district administration earlier.

They also castigated the elected representatives including MNA, MPA and district nazim for ignoring them.

Those who addressed included Hasan Muhammad, Haji Muhammad Shafa, Haji Muhtaram Shah, Abdul Bari, Qari Nizamuddin and others.
