Nine person died and one injured in a road accident
CHITRAL: Nine persons died here on
Wednesday when a datsun coming from Murdan village of Garam Chashma
valley plunged into river on Garam Chasham road near Chew bridge in
the vicinity of the city.
Police sources told Chitral Times that only one lady could be
saved who has been admitted to the DHQ hospital where her condition
is said to be out of danger while the four dead bodies could be
retrieved from the water and the search of the rest of them was in
Out of the Nine passengers, three belonged to the family of Miraj
Khan from Upper Dir who had married a woman (name could not be
ascertained) in Murdan village and was going back to his village
along with his wife, Sumayya (an infant) and his brother-in-law
Abdul Hanan while the only surviving passenger is the wife of Miraj
The bodies of Sumayya (Dir Bala), Haibat Khan (Shoghore), Abdul
Hanan (Murdan), Banat Bibi (Murdan) have been recovered while the
bodies of Hamza Khan, Afzal Khan, Mutaib Shah (residents of Murdan)
and that of Miraj Khan (upper Dir ) are missing yet.
Despite the lower ebb of the river, the vehicle could not be
located till filing of this report as it is believed that the four
missing dead bodies are trapped within the vehicle.
It is pertinent to note that two vehicles went untraced which had
plunged into the river in the same place a decade ago.
Meanwhile, the session of the district council was adjourned when
the accident occurred and the district nazim Maghfirat Shah rushed
to the spot along with the members of the council and supervised
the rescue and search process.
