Member District council warns to resign
CHITRAL: The member of zilla council from Karimabad,
Muhammad Yaqoob Khan has warned the government that if the faulty
and fictitious assessment survey of the earthquake damage is not
revised, all the local bodies elected representatives will resign
en block to lead the protest of the people.
Addressing a press conference here on Sunday flanked by member of
tehsil council Muhammad Ali Shah and others, he said that the
earthquake had wreaked havoc in the valley rendering hundreds of
people homeless but the survey teams did not include them in the
list of affected people which deprived them from the compensation.
He said that the majority of the valley’s population suffered from
abject poverty and it was beyond their capacity to reconstruct
their damaged houses before the advent of winter season and the
affected people are in dire need of assistance in this stage.
He said that the assessment teams did not visit even a number of
villages of the valley which has shocked the dwellers of the valley
and they demand stern action against those responsible for the
Mr. Khan said that the valley had earlier been devastated by the
flash flood in the month of July and had washed away the roads,
bridges, irrigation channels and water supply schemes which are yet
to be restored.
“It seems that the government has consigned the people of Karimabad
to oblivion in all walks of life and in such circumstances, it was
