GOC Malakand Major General Nadir Khan visits Chitral

CHITRAL: General Officer commanding of Swat Division of Pak Army, major general Nadir Khan inaugurated the water filtration plant in DHQ hospital Chitral here on Saturday to provide clean and safe drinking water which the hospital was short of.

Pak Army had financed it out of its own resources for providing basic facilities in other hospitals of the district which included providing solar penal at tehsil headquarter hospitals of Booni and Mulkhow which were with power supply for the last four months as the hydro power station of Reshun has been washed away by flash flood.

The GOC also addressed the earthquake affected people in Denin village where he was apprised of the basic issues which stood without being redressed by te district administration which included anomalies in the assessment of damaged houses were made on the basis of which compensations were made.

He assured the affected people that the list will be revised on fair and transparent basis while the fake claimants will be searched to be brought to book.

Earlier, the commandant of Chitral Scouts, colonel Niazm U Din Shah and deputy commissioner Chitral Osama Ahmed Warraich told the GOC about the measures jointly taken by the military and civil administrations in the phases of rescue, relief and rehabilitation.

Meanwhile, the earthquake affected people in Mastuj town, 120 kms from here in the north, staged a sit-in and held a protest meeting against the government for mass scale anomalies in the assessment of damaged houses in the area which deprived the really affected people.

They expressed their utter disgust against the provincial government for turning a deaf ear towards them and asked the federal government to merge their union council with Gilgit-Baltistan and said that the area was proximate to that province where the people are being treated by the government fairly.

Those who addressed the meeting included former tehsil nazim Mastuj Shahzada Sikandarul Mulk, naib nazim of village council Mastuj Abdur Rahman and other village elites including Fareed Laal, Sahibul Jan and Gul Muhammad.
