Record funds and powers shifted to LG- InayatUllah

Chitral Times Report

PESHAWAR: KP Senior Minister for Local Govt, Elections and Rural Development (LGE&RD) InayatUllah Khan has said that his government has introduced unique and exemplary system of local governments in the province wherein record developmental funds and powers were being given to LG representatives. “ This system is not only far better than that of other provinces but it has also no match all over the country”, he asserted and maintained that our LG system was chalked out on pattern of developed countries and if it was implemented in its true spirit then not only all local problems of people would get solved for good but new era of progress and prosperity would usher in here.

He was addressing nazims and councilors of Distt, Tehsil and village/ neighborhood councils at Conference Hall of Jamia Tafheemul Quran in Mardan. The District Amir of JI and former MNA Dr. Ataur Rahman, District councilor Haji Habib Rasool and Tehsil/village and neighborhood representatives also spoke on the occasion who apprised the Senior Minister of the issues of Mardan LG reps .

Inayatullah while assuring to solving all these problems on priority basis said that the new provincial Finance commission (PFC) was providing record development funds to the local govts that were thousand times more than the resources given by the past regimes. He regretted that opposition parties still raised hue and cry about more powers and resources for LGs that was nothing but misleading propaganda as they would not like it for their own govts. He alleged that opposition in fact wanted to shift all powers to LG reps and nothing left with the present provincial govt but to sit idle and watch the system collapse like a spectator that he said was impossible.

Senior Minister asked LGF reps of all the political parties to exploit the available golden opportunities and work united at village and Mohallah levels to serve the masses devotedly instead of demanding excessive powers. He said people could be realistically served with a spirit and missionary zeal rather than mere the funds. He said a balance has been maintained im the new LG system to minimize chances of corruption, nepotism and inefficiency on part of nazims and councilors. He assured that besides RoBs uploaded on website of the LG department, these were being distributed both in English and Urdu booklets to ensure its maximum understanding.
