PLCs established in 83 village councils of Chitral
CHITRAL: In order to bridge the gap between the public and
police, Public Liaison Councils ((PLCs) have been established in 83
village councils of Chitral which are envisaged in enhancing
community engagement in order to make policing effective.
DPO Chitral, Abbas Majeed Khan Marwat, while talking at a seminar
organized on ‘community policing’ here on Thursday, stressed on
bridging the gap between the police and public through PLCs.
He said that policing and community engagement compliment and
supplement each other and will result at building confidence of
community on the police force by redressing their grievances and
bringing about tangible change in ‘thana culture’.
He said that Police was accountable to the public and the process
of accountability will be carried out through the councils who will
make it more effective while the sense of accountability will act
as catalyst to improve the efficiency of the force.
He said that PCS will be established in the rest of the 17 village
councils shortly while special measures will taken to sensitize and
strengthen the members of the councils to achieve the goas and
Speaking on the behalf of the community, the former tehsil nazim
Sartaj Ahmed Khan eulogized the efforts of district police chief
for taking concrete steps to bring the police force community
He said that the hectic efforts of the district police in providing
relief to the flash flood affected people and the earthquake is the
practical step which has aggrandized the force.
