Opposition leader in National Assembly Syed Khurshid Shah visits
CHITRAL: The leader of opposition in the National Assembly,
Syed Khurshid Shah has warned the government that strong protest
will be launched if the affected people of the earthquake were not
properly rehabilitated before the advent of winter season.
Addressing on the occasion of his visit to the quake affected areas
of Chitral here on Tuesday, he said that ample time has been given
to the government for redressing the issues of the affected people
as the opposition did not want confrontation with the ruling party
politicizing petty maters to derive political benefit.
Mr. Shah said that it was his second visit to Chitral in three
months which manifested the love of PPP with the people of Chitral
which had been established during the era of the party founder
Zulfikar Ali Bhutto who had started work on the Lowari tunnel
He announced 10 thousand bags of wheat on behalf of the government
of Sind and sixty thousand beds, three thermal generators of 250 kw
each for upper Chitral where power station has been washed away by
the flood on behalf of the party for the quake affected people.
Former information minister Qamar Zaman Kaira, local MPAs Salim
Khan and Syed Sardar Hussain Shah also spoke on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, district nazim Chitral Maghfirat Shah
eulogized the opposition leader for visiting Chitral which was hit
by flash flood and earthquake this year.
“The marginalized people are represented by the leader of the
opposition and as such the wretched people of Chitral relied on the
Khurshid Shah who is kind enough to give them proper attention to
solve their problems”, he said.
