Iqbal Day, Holiday & Interior Ministry

Whenever any event, festival or special Day is coming thousands of people started to search about holiday in Pakistan. People ask their friends, relatives, search on internet, questions on Facebook and all other platforms from where one can confirm about the holiday.

Recently almost all media channels in Pakistan confused people by first airing the news that Iqbal Day (9th November) will be public holiday but after some time media claimed that there will be no public holiday on Iqbal Day. People were so confused that they started to share different info-graphics, images, status on Facebook, twitter regarding this.

Interior Ministry of Pakistan announces public holidays through notifications. I was wondering why Interior Minister is not using its Twitter profile properly to announce these type of holidays. It will be great if Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan takes serious notice of this and also makes Facebook page of Interior Minister and also advertises it. This will help general public as they will get to know credible announcement regarding these types of holidays.

Interior Ministry notifications can be seen on their website on the bottom of the website however it is not quite easily visible to everyone.

Facebook, Twitter and Google + buttons are also given on website but they are also not integrated with their respective accounts.

More than 15 million Pakistanis are on Facebook which means if Interior Ministry announces anything about holiday on their page this will surely be viral and people will not be confused. Interior Ministry must also use Twitter account, their website (but at least highlight notification section) and all other platforms to announce their decisions.

I also hope that all Government institutions which deals with public uses these social media platforms properly so that people can easily get information are not depended on media in Pakistan which most of the time confuses people.
