Opposition boycott continue in District council session
CHITRAL: The leader of opposition in the district council,
Maulana Abdur Rahman said that the opposition will keep on the
boycott of the session of the house chaired by its convener Maulana
Abdul Shakoor who had lost his membership of the house by voting
against the nominee of the party in the election of district nazim.
Addressing a press conference flanked by the other leaders of the
opposition in the house, Rahmat Ghazi Khan, Abdul Latif, Abdul
Qayum and others, he said that the opposition has boycotted not
only the recently held budget session but will also boycott the
subsequent sessions till the removal of the controversial convener.
He said that the provincial leadership of JUI (F) had decided to
take action against the convener for changing his loyalty by voting
to the nominee of other party against the nominee of the party
thereby violating the rules of Local Government Act 2013 under
which the elections were held.
Mr. Rahman alleged that the very budget session, which also
happened to be the first session of the house, was also convened by
the convener in utter violation of the rules of business of the
house and did not bother even to inform the opposition members.
He said that the convener also invited two such members to the
session against whom the election tribunal has recently given its
verdict and the Election Commission will denotify them any time.
The opposition leader claimed that the incumbent district is like a
house of cards which will be razed to the ground any time as it has
lost its majority in the house and a change will take place.
