Aluminum sheets distributes among flood effectees

By Zahiruddin

CHITRAL: A Karachi-based non-governmental organization has offered the flood affected people of Chitral to provide them with aluminum sheets as per their needs for the construction of their homes which had been hit by the flash floods.

In an aid-giving ceremony held here on Friday, the focal person of Iqra Welfare International Trust Pakistan, Maulana Khaleequz Zaman said that keeping in view the widespread devastations in the aftermath of flash floods in the length and breadth of Chitral, the organization had decided to provide the much needed construction material free of cost to the affected.

He advised the affected people to raise the walls of their newly homes and contact the organizationís district offices to get the aluminum sheets who will be readily obliged after verification on fast track.

On this occasion, aluminum sheets were distributed among the affected people of the flood-devastated areas of Reshun, Garam Chashma, Muzhgole, Saht and Mori by district nazim Maghfirat Shah who was chief guest on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, the district nazim said that the floods had rendered more than two thousand families of Chitral homeless completely or partially and the provision of proper shelter for them before the advent of winter season posed a real problem to the government having very meager resources.

He said that it was not possible to live in tents in the winter season when the area receives snow fall for many days continuously while reconstruction of their homes was not shortly possible for the affected people without support from outside.

Mr. Shah eulogized the efforts of the organization and its patron Qari Faizullah Chitrali for rushing to the rescue of the affected people by providing them with the much sought-after item of aluminum sheet in the construction and it enabled and encouraged a large number of them to launch the reconstruction work.

Addressing on this occasion, the district naib nazim Maulana Abdul Shakoor and tehsil nazim Chitral Maulana Muahammad Ilyas asked the other NGOs to follow the organization and extend their all out help to the affected people by providing some other items of the construction.

They advised the affected people to avail the lavish offer of the organization and speed up the construction of their damaged homes so that they could shift from tents to the homes before snow fall starts.
