Training for Nazims starts on Oct 5, KP Chief Minister will inaugurate Training Workshop for District Nazims

PESHAWAR: The Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is going to hold first ever ‘Training Workshop’ in the history of Pakistan for all districts Nazims (Mayors) of the province on 5-6 October 2015 in line with embarking on the journey for devolution of power to the elected Local Government representatives. The Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Parvez Khattak will inaugurate the ‘Training Workshop’ for the district Nazims to be held in Peshawar. Chief Minister will engage with the district Nazims to give his vision about devolution and decentralization. He will touch upon the government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's citizen-centric agenda for empowering th masses and giving the people of KP a chance to decide about their development.

KP Senior Minister for Local Government InayatUllah Khan and Chief Secretary Amjad Ali Khan will also give their sight of the local government system and convey the policy guidelines of the provincial government to the district Nazims. With technical support from Sub-National Governance Program (SNG) the workshop is aimed at familiarizing the newly elected mayors with the fundamentals of various aspects of the new system especially the financial management and developmental processes. Such training programs will also follow for town/tehsil and village/neighborhood councils heads to make them abreast with their basic aims and objects of serving the masses in real context. During the 1st training workshop, presentations will be made by experts in concerned disciplines to orient the District Mayors on various aspects of the local government system supported by moderators for each session. Followed by a panel discussion on the presentation, District Nazims shall be provided a chance to pose the questions in their mind in an open forum discussion.
