Poachers of Kashmir markhor arrested in CGNP
CHITRAL: The attempt of poaching Kashmir markhor in Chitral
Gol National Park was foiled by the park staff and arrested them
with rifles after chasing them for hours who were trying to make
good their escapes.
Sub-Divisioanal Forest Officer of Shoghore Range, Iltaf Ali Shah
told Chitral Timesthat two the park staff spotted two young hunters
from Aucho Gol village of Lotkoh valley in Gokh Shal area of
Chitral Gol National Park roaming with automatic rifles and were
searching for a markhor to hunted down.
He said that he rushed to the spot and cordoned off the area to nab
the poachers and nabbed them when they were leaving the park
boundary contiguous with their village who were identified as
Sarwaruddin and Imtiaz Ahmed.
Mr. Shah said that the poachers had not fired any shot to prey the
wild goat due to the watchfulness of the watchers of the department
in Gokh Shal area where the population of the markhor is
concentrated in the summer season.
The alleged poachers, he said, agreed to pay the fine of 30
thousand rupees each for roaming with rifle in the national park
due to which the case was compounded and no case was registered
against them under the Environmental Protection and Conservation of
