Chitral Times Report
PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Khyber Paktunkhwa, Pervez Khattak has
stated that Khyber Paktunkhwa Ehtasab (Accountability) Commission
is a fully independent commission that had been established through
a unanimously passed Act of the Provincial Assembly in 2014 and
that the Federal National Accountability Bureau (NAB) should also
follow the footprints of Khyber Pathtunkhwa government and initiate
investigations against the Federal Government’s corruption cases.

autonomous body established for the purpose of combating corruption
in the province without fear or favor for anyone.

not provide for the commission to report to the Chief Minister at
any levels and therefore the allegations that the Ehtesab
Commission was taking directives from the Chief Minister were
completely incorrect, based on malafide intention and have been
leveled to mislead the media and the masses.
Mr. Khattak said that the recent arrest of a sitting Provincial
Minister of the ruling party by the Ehtasab Commission for alleged
corruption was an ample proof of the independence and autonomy of
the provincial accountability institution.
He added that the area of Jurisdiction of the Ehtasab Commission
includes organizations, public service officials, politicians and
the citizens involved in malpractices that caused losses to the
Provincial exchequer. Therefore the Ehtasab Commission is fully
authorized to conduct investigations or inquiries regarding anyone
and at any level of the Province to unearth corruption and other
The Chief Minister further stated that It was also in public
knowledge that there were serious allegations of huge corruption at
the Federal Level and we do hope that NAB will also initiate
investigations against the Federal Government Departments as well
as the Federal Ministers whose names have come to fore in
connection with such scandals.
He said that recent list of 150 people sent to the Supreme Court of
Pakistan by NAB is an eye opener for the public and it is now
expected that strict action will be taken by NAB against these big
wigs who were involved in mega corruption that resulted in a
collective loss of over 50 Billion rupees to the nation.
