APML and PPP entered into an electoral alliance for local bodies polls

By Zahiruddin

All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) entered into an electoral alliance in the local bodies polls.

The announcement was made during the joint press conference of the president of APML, Shahzada Khalid Pervaiz and president of PPP, Salim Khan here on Sunday in which hundreds of the workers of both the parties were present.

They said that the alliance was the need of the hour as the people of Chitral had reposed their confidence on them because incumbent MNA from Chitral was from APML and the MPAs were from PPP.

They said that the alliance was much needed to accelerate the pace of development as the local bodies representatives have been given greater share in power and development funds and their harmony with the members of assembly was indispensable.

They said that the people from the length and breath of Chitral were demanding the formation of the alliance they responded promptly.

The PPP and APML leaders dispelled the impression that the alliance was aimed at countering the alliance of religious parities consisting of Jamaat-e-Islami and Jamiat Ulama-e-Islam.

They said that the people of Chitral will reject them outright due to the inefficiency of the parties during the MMA government in the province during which corruption was at its peak and the district was neglected in development activities.

Responding to a question about the inclusion of PTI in the alliance, the unenthusiastic attitude of the PTI leaders to their repeated requests was the main obstacle in the formation of tripartite alliance.
