Chitral Police distributes relief goods among flood effectees
CHITRAL: Chitral police distributed food items in Kalash
valley of Bumburate
and other flood-hit areas of Chitral where commodities of daily
use have run out due to the collapse of suspension bridges and
eroding of roads to floods.
District police officer, Abbas Majeed Khan Marwat led the jawans
of his force carrying bags of food items through the dirt
pedestrian track leading to Bumburate valley from Ayun village
which took him about five hours.
Deputy superintendent of police (headquarters) Muhammad Khalid
told Chitral Times that this was the second expedition
undertaken by the district police chief as earlier this month,
he had led the convoy of 200 jawans to Mulkhow on feet from
Kuragh as the area has been disconnected by road from other
parts of the district.
He said that during the ongoing crisis of food and drinking
water in the flood-hit areas, the police also took a number of
initiatives for the amelioration of the affected and mitigate
their suffering which included running water tankers around the
city round the clock.
He said that medical camps were arranged in a number of remote
valleys and free medicines were provided to the patients as
prescribed by the doctors.
