FOCUS distributes 55 tons relief items among the flood effectees,
AKPBS restored four water supply schemes

CHITRAL: FOCUS Humanitarian Assistance, an agency of Aga
Khan Development work has provided 55 tons of food and non-food
items to the devastating flood
affected people in different valleys of Upper and Lower Chitral.
The food items and medicines have been transported to the
villages by 46 sorties of helix of Aga Khan Foundation since
devastating flood began 25 days ago.
FOCUS transported 24 tons of food items from Gilgit to Chitral
in order to meet the needs of the people urgently. So far more
than 1000 affected families in district Chitral have been helped
with food and non-food items. Other agencies of AKDN which
include AKPBSP, AKRSP and AKHSP are also engaged in restoring
different infrastructures completed with their financials
support in the past. AKHS with its 19 mobile teams has been able
to have access to more than 5000 patients in flood affected
valleys in the district.
AKPBSP has restored supply of water of its own funded drinking
water projects under Water and Sanitation Extension Programme
for 1800 households out of 4060 by providing them with pipes
transported from Gilgit to Upper Chitral. The villages whose
water was restored are; Kuragh, Charun Oveer and Booni. The
other affected projects have been assessed and will be restored
as the roads are open.
FOCUS will continue its relief operation for another three to
four weeks in the flood affected areas in Pakistan.
