AKES,P pays rich tributes to the services of Teachers

CHITRAL: To pay homage to the services of teachers, Teachersí Recognition Day programme was held in the atrium of Aga Khan Higher Secondary School Koragh. It was the continuation of Teachersí Recognition Day earlier held for the Lower Chitral Region. This intellectual gathering was attended by large number of teachers, dignitaries and renowned educationists.

Mr. Sultan Mehmood, Chairman Regional Education BoardLower Chitral and Senior Regional Programme Manager Hashoo Foundation was the Chief Guest, whereas renowned educationist and ex Director AKES, P Chitral Professor Saeedullah Jan presided over the programme. After recitation and Naat, Mr. Zulfiqar Ali, Manager Academics, welcomed the guests and appreciated the teachers for their untiring efforts and devotion, which helped Chitral to be among the top districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in female literacy rate.

The General Manager AKES,P Chitral Brig (R) Khush Muhammad Khan highlighted the objectives of the program and the role of AKES Schools in Chitral, which particularly helped in enhancing female literacy rate from 2 percent in 1980 to about 52 percent now. He praised the commitment and determination of AKES teachers in this regard. Very precisely the GM shared the achievements of both AKHSSs in producing high academic quality students who stood out in medical, engineering, army and other fields. Many of them arepursuing their education across the globe. He emphasized on the utmost utilization of the human capital by investing in quality education of children. One major aspect of the program was to honour the performance of teachers and assure them of consistent support of AKES,P. As per the performance award, more than 80 teachers in Chitral were awarded performance bonuses amounting toRs.75,000, 50,000 and 35,000each,based on their annual appraisals, exam results and fulfillment of professional responsibilities in the schools. GM further said that to flourish quality education in Chitral, AKES,P was creating great opportunities through professional development of teachers, upgrading of schools, establishment of ECD centres and extending every possible support for improving infrastructure of the schools. School heads arebeing provided the opportunity for training in managerial and leadership skills in institutions like IBA, and AKU-IED Karachi. GM also asked the teachers to enhance 21st century teaching skills to provide real help to the students and enable them to cope with the challenges of the modern era.

In recognition of the services of senior teachers serving the organization for more than 25 years, garlands and AKES,P dairies were presented to them in the echo of loud applause. Representing the teachers, Mr. Sahib Jan AKS Balim expressed his views and paid rich tributes to AKES,P.Afterwards, the chief guest vigorously congratulated the teachers for their most effective contribution in educating children of the nation. He also expressed his views on the significance of education for the region as well as the role of teachers. He appreciated the contributions of AKESíP from all aspects.
In conclusion of the program, Prof. Saeedullah Jan said that the occasion gave him a true realization that teacher has great value in the society and AKES,P deserves much tributes for this noble action of organizing such a wonderful programme in the honour of our teachers. Head of HR, Mr. Mir Wazir Khan thanked the guests and hoped that the teacher is respected all day and every day as teacher deserves such respect.
