District Nazim demands re-design of CDLD project
CHITRAL: District nazim Chitral Maghfirat Shah has expressed
his grave concerns over the serious flaws in the implementation
mechanism of community driven local development (CDLD), a
multi-billion rupees project funded by the European Union.
In a press statement issued here on Wednesday, he alleged that it
was more a paper work than a development project which is designed
such that a large chunk of its funds is diverted in non-development
and frivolous activities as a result of which no perceptible change
will take place as a result of the project.
He said that the EU had financed a large sum of money for the
community based development in the districts of Malakand Division
but its architects in the provincial government have chalked out a
plan which is nothing but sheer wastage of fabulous resources.
Mr. Shah alleged that although the project is to be formally
launched and its activities are started, millions of rupees have
been paid to the consultants and lavishly used in holding workshops
and such like unproductive activities.
He said that the provincial government had decided to divert the
funds to the current fiscal year to the rehabilitation of
infrastructures hit by the disasters of flash floods and
earthquakes in Chitral district but not a single penny has been
utilized as yet.
