FEDERAL OMBUDSMAN DIRECTED GOVERNMENT AGENCIES TO ESTABLISH AUTOMATED SYSTEM FOR POLICE CLEARANCE AND RENUNCIATION OF CITIZENSHIP CASES OF OVERSEAS PAKISTANIS

Islamabad: Federal Ombudsman of Pakistan has issued directions to Ministry of Interior/ Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Director General, Police Bureau, NADRA, FIA and Directorate General of Immigration and Passport to establish automated system for early processing of police clearance certificates and renunciation of Pakistan Citizenship of Overseas Pakistanis and to further establish its monitoring and evaluation system. Hafiz Ahsaan Ahmad Khokhar, Senior Advisor (Law) and Grievance Commissioner for Overseas Pakistanis said that this initiative has been taken on several complaints filed by Overseas Pakistanis in Federal Ombudsman Secretariat wherein requests were made for their early processing of these cases which kept pending with them for the last many months. He further stated that with the establishment of automated system for police clearance certificates and renunciation of citizenship, not only the cases of Overseas Pakistanis would be resolved in 30 days but would establish good coordination among various government organizations. He said that Federal Ombudsman Office has also sought the details of pending cases of police clearance and citizenship from the respective Agencies and strategy for their early resolution. Hafiz Ahsaan Ahmad Khokhar, Senior Advisor (Law) and Grievance Commissioner for Overseas Pakistanis said that directions has been issued to respective Agencies to submit the comprehensive strategy for streamlining Overseas Pakistanis applications within four weeks, which would facilitate to millions of Overseas Pakistanis. The subject matter is fixed for hearing on 28-12-2016 in Federal Ombudsman Secretariat, Islamabad.

DAR TAKES NOTICE OF THE FRAUD IN NATIONAL BANK OF PAKISTAN

Islamabad: The Federal Minister for Finance Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar has taken a serious notice of the news item (also highlighted by a senior anchor in his recent program) regarding a fraud in the National bank of Pakistan amounting to more than a billion rupees.

According to the news item the fraud had been committed in connivance with the senior bank officials, the most prominent amongst whom is an Assistant vice president of the Bank.

The Finance Minister, after taking a serious notice of the news highlighted by the media, has tasked the Governor State Bank of Pakistan to investigate the matter and also send a report to the Finance Ministry within three days, so that the matter may further be proceeded in accordance with the rules.
