Chitral Police arrests five persons involve in torture of minor
CHITRAL: Chitral police arrested five persons of Shiekhandeh
Bumburate for torturing three minor boys for keeping in illegal
confinement and subjecting them to torture on the pointation of
Children Protection Unit (CPU).
An official of Chitral Police told Chitral Times that three
children of Shiekhandeh used to pick dry wood pieces from the
nearby jungle to sell in the market on daily basis but on the day
of occurrence, they were intercepted by five persons of the village
and were taken to a house.
The official said that the children were confined in the bath room
of the house and they were allegedly subjected to torture and their
hair was trimmed.
On the report of the children protection unit, an organ of Social
Welfare Department, the police raided the house and nabbed five
persons including Sajidullah, Raheemullah, Zahir Khan, Usman and
Noorul Haq and registered case against them under different
sections of PPC and Children Protection Act.
A villager told that all the children and the accused belonged to
the Muslim community of the valley and none of them was Kalash.
He said that the CPU rushed to the rescue of the confined children
on the report of one of its local volunteers and traced the house
of one Ahmed Noorani where they were being kept.
The exact reason behind the incident is yet to be determined by
investigation but the immediate reason being stated is that they
were punished for picking the woods from the local jungle.
