By Zahiruddin

CHITRAL: District Nazim Chitral, Maghfirat Shah has said that a donor conference was being held in Islamabad jointly by the district government, provincial government and the Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund (PPAF) to raise necessary funds for the rehabilitation of the physical infrastructures devastated by the flash floods in 2015.

After his meeting with general manager of PPAF, Tahir Malik in Islamabad here on Wednesday, he told Chitral Times  by telephone that the district needed a huge amount of Rs.18 billion rupees to restore the colossal loss caused to the infrastructure of roads, bridges, irrigation channels, drinking water schemes, school buildings and healthcare facilities across the district.

He said that the launching of a multi-sector development project was the need of the hour to restore the devastated facilities and make integrated efforts but the arrangement of the huge amount of money was the main obstacle and holding of donor conference will make it a possibility.

Mr. Shah said that the PPAF has decided in principle to take up the issue of the rehabilitation of the infrastructures as per lines set by the district government while the chief of the organization had recently visited the valley of Chitral to keep abreast of the losses.
