Four-day anti polio campaign kicked off in
CHITRAL: More than seventy two thousand children of the age
group of below 5 years will be administered polio drops in Chitral
district for which 342 polio teams have been constituted while the
four-day campaign was kicked off here on Monday.
District health officer Dr. Israrullah formally started the
campaign by giving drop to a child in Children’s Hospital Chitral
while Assistant Commissioner Chitral Iltaf Ahmed and district
coordinator of Expand Program of Immunization (EPI) Dr. Irshad
Ahmed were also in attendance who also gave polio drops to a number
Talking on the occasion, Dr. Irshad Ahmed said that for the
surveillance purpose of the campaign in all the 24 union councils
of the district, 97 area inspectors have been deployed who will be
overseen by 24 numbers of union council medical officers.
He said that nine numbers of transit points have been established
to facilitate those who were traveling to and from the district
with their children by road or by air.

been established in all the health centres across the district so
that hundred percent coverage could be extended to the children of
The EPI coordinator said that elaborate arrangements had been made
to provide security to the polio team working in the areas declared
as sensitive while there is no previous record of attack or
intimidation on polio teams.
He said that the incidents of refusal to polio drops by the parents
has also been recorded in negligible number in the past.
