Tow-day Art, craft and cuisine exhibition organized by DDRCS
CHITRAL: Chitral deputy commissioner Osama Ahmed Warraich
has said that the vast expanse of Chitral district is adorned with
a series of rich cultural heritages of different isolated valleys
be used a lever to promote tourism by showcasing them properly.
Addressing the opening ceremony of the two-day Art, Craft and
Cuisine exhibition under the aegis of a local organization named as
Drug Addict Detoxification, Rehabilitation and Cultural Society (DDRCS)
with the financial assistance of Tourism Corporation of Khyber
Pakhtunkhwa here on Saturday, he extolled the artisans of Chitral
and termed them to be at the acme of perfection.
He said that local art and craft coupled with cuisine of Chitral
and the Kalash valleys have no parallels which are partly
indigenous and partly Central Asian in origin and the area is
really a paradise of tourists on this account.
He said that owing to its importance, the district government has
also chalked out a program for its promotion by introducing a
number of activities throughout the year while the civil society
organizations will be extended help for its preservation.
He also extended invitation to the participants of the exhibition
to set up their stalls in Chitral Festival scheduled for the next
week and assured them of all out support.
Earlier, the organizer of the exhibition, Meherban Khan said that
the aim of the exhibition was to provide opportunity to develop a
link between the market and the local artisans and thereby its
preservation of the indigenous culture of the communities of
