NAB arrests Arshad Khan Ex-DG FDMA and his brother Dr. Muhammad Arif in illegal assets case

Peshawar: NAB has re-arrested accused Arshad Khan, Ex-Director General FATA Disaster Management Authority (FDMA) along with his benamidar and frontman Dr. Muhammad Arif allegedly involved in accumulation of illegal assets worth millions of rupees. It clarified here that the later is real brother of accused Arshad Khan.

As per details, the matter was brought into the notice of NAB Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Authorities. Taking cognizance of the matter inquiry was authorized to ascertain the real facts and collect requisite evidence regarding moveable and immoveable properties owned, controlled and possessed by the accused in his own name and in the name of his dependents etc.

During the course of inquiry it revealed that the accused Arshad Khan Ex-Director General FDMA remained posted on key port-folios i.e. DCO Malakand, DG FDMA & DG Excise in 2008-2014. The accused Arshad Khan piled assets worth millions of rupees during his tenure as DG FDMA, in his name and in the name of his real brother Dr. Muhammad Arif, also a front man and benamindar for his brother. Their illegal properties, disproportionate to their known sources of income include: -

1. 10 Marlas House at Askari VI, Nasir Bagh Road Peshawar.
2. 25 Marlas Hujra at Mouza Malakander Peshawar.
3. 05 Marlas Awami Villa at Bahria Town Rawalpindi.
4. 43 marlas commercial plot at University road, Peshawar acquired in 2013 worth of Rs. 70 million.
5. 2 expensive plots in Kanjoo Town Swat.
6. Both operating different joint bank accounts wherein transactions of millions of rupees being made.

It merits to mention here that accused Arshad Khan Ex-DG FDMA has already been arrested by NAB Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, involved for fabricating 161 bogus (fake) survey forms in Mohmand Agency. A cash recovery of Rs. 31(M) has been made by this Bureau in the instant case. A reference of Rs. 59.6 Million has already been filed in the Accountability Court Peshawar for Mohmand Agency Funds embezzlement and another reference of about Rs.300.00 Million is in the pipeline against the accused Arshad Khan for his involvement in looting of funds meant for compensation of affectees after Operation against the miscreants in Bajaur Agency. NAB Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is actively pursuing the case and more properties are expected to be unearthed.


Timergara Khazana bypass bridge rifts-KP govt takes notice

PESHAWAR: KP Govt has taken cognizance of emerging rifts in Timergara Khazana Bypass Bridge on river Panjkora and stoppage of traffic on it. Akbar Ayub Khan, Adviser to Chief Minister on Communication & Works(C&W), and Engr Muhammad Asif Khan, Secretary C&W, while taking exception to this matter have directed the high ups of Pakhtunkhwa Highway Authority (PkHA) to repair the bridge on emergency ground and restore traffic on it as soon as possible.

Meanwhile Secretary C&W has constituted an inquiry committee comprising the concerned experts under Engr Shahab Khattak, Project Director PMU, which would probe into developing rifts in a portion of this bridge on river Panjkora. Committee would also identify possible negligence of govt officials and consultants in this regard. This committee has been asked to immediately start work and submit report in a week time so that strict action could be taken against the concerned.

Secretary C&W has also directed PkHA to immediately restore traffic for Jandool and Bajaur on this bridge so that traffic congestion problem in Timergara city could be resolved without delay due to alternate arrangements.
